The role is customer facing and will be expected to provide a high quality service to our customers, The Windows Server Engineer will provide proactive services for all managed customers, monitoring server infrastructure, raising incidents and processing change requests. Working with 3rd party vendors, such as BT and HP, will also be required as part of the support operations.
• The role includes responding to alarms from the management system, logging tickets in the Service Management System, performing technical triage, diagnostics, and incident resolution.
• The O2 Unify NOC operates 12 hour shift patterns, alternating between day shifts (07:00 – 19:00) and night shifts (19:00 – 07:00) in a 4 shifts on and shift shifts off cycle.
• Monitoring of server physical and VMware/virtualisation instances as well as applications and related Data Centre network infrastructure
• Fault diagnostics and incident resolution within contractual SLAs
• Coordination of field service engineers
• Engaging 3rd party vendors such as the external Telefonica group in Spain (VDC platform support) and hardware maintainers like HP.
• Prior experience of working in a NOC or managed services environment
• Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously within a 24 x 7 shift pattern
• Sound diagnostic capabilities and basic fault resolution
• Good understanding of Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V and compute/storage components and troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of the Windows OS and application monitoring.
• Understanding of switching and routing fundamentals as well as firewalls (and ideally virtual firewalls).
