Three has ambitious growth plans and is looking for a Signalling Core Design Engineer to work in a design and delivery environment.
Operating cross-functionally, with multiple internal network & IT teams, you will be responsible for design and delivery of platforms and services ensuring that quality standards are met.
Already working in an engineering environment, you'll be a technical leader, able to drawn upon your track record of success and use a wide range of technical and operational experience to help shape our success.
Your approach will be customer focused and aligned to the commercial goals of the business.You'll also drive our values in day to day technical and operational decision making.
Your role encompasses all aspects of the design and delivery of the current and future networks (redesign/add, change and/or increase the networks services and resources for capacity, features and functionality). Whilst you'll act as a primary point of technical accountability, you will work with functional stakeholders to ensure that the right responsibility levels are established -working to exercise influence without direct authority.
You have a tried and tested ability to manage conflicting technical priorities and identify innovative solutions. A flair for technically leading the delivery of high performing solution is essential.
Reporting to the Principle Technical Design Authority for Subscriber Management &Signalling, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of signalling and subscriber solutions within your domain.
-Working with various stakeholders your role will be to define requirements and based on that design and deliver new platforms and services for your area of expertise.
-Work closely with other design teams to ensure that impact of your change is assessed and captured in the design phase.
-Responsible and accountable for the capacity management of your domain you will provide innovative solutions to ensure cost effective growth.
- Working closely with the architecture teams, you will champion the design and delivery of high quality, scalable and cost effective design solutions in support of business initiatives whilst maintaining high levels of customer experience and network perception.
-Technically lead your project and support the delivery of all domain solutions through transition including high level design, detailed design, validation and delivery to Operations.
-Support the design and delivery process with key suppliers to understand and influence their approach to deliver best in class end-to-end customer solutions.
-Provide design support to operations as and when required.
Responsible for the design (HLD & DLD) as well as the technical delivery of Signalling core solutions on NSNs DX 200 SRRi, hiS700 and SDM products.
- Responsible for capacity management of the network elements and interfaces within your domain.
- Responsible for the production and management of all design documentation for the domain at a system and element level including HLD's, DLDs, Impact assessments, Technical requirement specifications, etc.
- Responsible for the technical co-ordination of cross functional delivery teams including network (RAN, Transmission, IP, Service Layer, CS, IMS & VoLTE) and IT delivery specialists (SPML, SOAP, LDAP) to enable the delivery of Mobile circuit core design solutions.
- Responsible& accountable for the technical delivery of innovative on time cross domain and cost effective solutions for the mobile circuit core network ensuring no capacity bottlenecks affect the customer experience.
- Input to delivery plans to ensure that capabilities are delivered to requirements, on time and without negative impact to the service and business KPIs.
- Be a key escalation point for operational and validation issues and co-ordinate vendors and internal teams to formulate action plans to resolve technical design, test and operational issues (defect and performance).
Must Have:
Good working knowledge of 3G Mobile Circuit Core elements and associated interfaces,including key protocols e.g. Sigtran, SIP, BICC, MAP, Diameter, CAP and INAP.
Good working knowledge of 3G & 4G networks on an end to end basis.
Good working knowledge on some of the following NSN core equipment: DX 200i (MSS, SRRi),hiS700, SDM.
Working design experience on core networks incorporating NSN Circuit Core equipment: MSS,HLR, SRRi, SDM, hiS700, MNP.
Working experience in high level and detail designs, technical requirement specifications,impact assessments,design and deployment experience of key network systems through the full delivery life cycle from initial design to full operational handover.
Good understanding of Operational and Business support systems.
Good practical skills in troubleshooting and fault resolution on an end to end basis.
Ability to motivate small to medium sized teams.
Vendor management skills and experience.
Project life cycle understanding.
Nice to Have:
Up to date understanding of the LTE network as well as key associated technologies and functionality including IMS, VOLTE and CSFB.
VoIP deployment experience
Knowledge of IP networks, preferably with experience with the prime IP vendor equipment
Educated to degree level in a Telecommunications discipline.
