News Analysis ZTE Turns The Corner In India

Chinese telecom equipment firm, ZTE India reported sales worth 2.9 billion RMB for the financial year 2013-14. Around 2.4 billion RMB came from its network operations and the rest from its terminal business. ZTE India accounts for just 3 percent of the company's total revenue, says the press release issued by the company. It has recently deployed LTE network in four circles for Aircel. ZTE has also set up the LTE network for Airtel in two circles. ZTE launched its branded devices in the Indian market some time back. It claims to be among the top five handset manufacturers in the country. The company is planning to launch Nubia Z 7 in the Indian market. The last two years have been difficult for the company with the Indian market almost at a standstill. However, it seems to have turned the corner with significant deals in the LTE space. “FY 2013-14 has been a breakthrough year for us and we bagged major LTE deals with Airtel and Aircel. On the smartphone front we entered the open market and we have high hopes for the terminal division. ZTE will consistently follow its strategy to focus in key operations and target business innovations. The company will continue to implement its strategy as planned, striving for innovations in both technology and business model," says Xu Dejun, CEO, ZTE India.
