Microsoft's Hardware Engineering team is seeking Engineer/Senior Engineer to join the UIHW&Audio engineering team in Tampere, Finland.
Your work in Audio engineering will include all phases of product design from concept work to mass production. Engineer/Senior Engineer, Audio, is responsible for designing, simulating, integration and design verification the best solutions possible for Audio hardware in high volume manufactured mobile devices. An essential aspect of your job is collaboration with baseband, PWB, antenna & EMC and mechanical engineering, production testing and management of the product program. Engineer/Senior Engineer, Audio, is also responsible for planning and documenting all Audio hardware test results and participating in project reviews. Also support is needed for prototype builds which includes troubleshooting of Audio build failures, improving manufacturing yields and providing Audio training for factory technicians.
Tasks:
- Audio/Acoustics simulations on Audio design area
- Electronics design on Audio area
- Participating Audio component specification, development & design work
- Product level integration, testing, validation, including Acoustical measurements
- Component supplier co-operation
- Participating production testing development on Audio area, including manufacturability issues
- Production and build support, also at subcontractor(s) site
- Co-operation with various teams at Microsoft
- 3 years of experience in mobile device Audio design (analog & digital design) preferred but recently graduated with suitable background can also be considered for this position
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) / Master of Science (MSc) in Electrical Engineering or related degree/experience
- Good knowledge in Audio components used in mobile devices
- Experience in Acoustics measurements preferred
- Good hands-on experience in Audio measurement equipment (e.g. Audio Precision Audio Analyzer and Audio Test Instruments)
- Good knowledge of some of the Audio/Acoustics simulating tools (e.g. CLUES, FearIT/Waveller)
- Experience in some of the used HW design tools (e.g. Zuken)
- Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Lean Six Sigma expertise preferred
- Several years of experience on Product Program Audio design work preferred
- Proven leadership skills required
