Microsoft's Phones unit is seeking skillful and motivated Tooling Specialist to join the Mechanics engineering team in Tampere, Finland.

Your work in Mechanics engineering will include all phases of product design from concept work to volume production. Tooling specialist is responsible for driving mechanical design feasibility for injection molding and selection of detailed tool constructions including recommendations for corresponding injection molding machine types. You have proven track record designing complex injection molding tool constructions that meet high quality component manufacturing requirements with optimized cycle times. You know how to apply results from Moldflow analyses to reduce molding defect risks through selection of optimized tool constructions. You are capable to support assessments and steer supplier’s tooling shops to meet our tooling specifications. It is seen as clear preference if you are also able to facilitate systematical test runs, support/contribute DOEs at suppliers and supervise molding set-up and conditions for production. 
- Master of Science (MSc)/Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanics or Materials Engineering (or corresponding)
- 6-9 years’ experience in injection molding tool design and manufacturing of different types of injection molding tools (single shot, multi-shot, insert molding)
- Several years’ experience of using 3D design tools (Catia 3D/2D knowledge is clearly preferred)
- Experience of plastics injection molding in mass production environment. Setting up the machine, processing parameters, organizing test runs, stabilizing production using SPC is seen as clear preference
- Knowledge in sheet metal stamping tool design and part manufacturing in mass production environment is seen as clear preference.
- You are willing to learn new technologies and solutions
- You are willing to work enthusiastically and relentlessly to help your team to meet its targets
- Fluent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Able to travel, international (APAC region) travelling will be required
