We power IoT businesses around the world. ? We are looking to hire an extremely bright and ambitious Manager, Systems Operations to join our team in Mountain View, CA? This highly visible position is responsible for driving the support of Jasper's 24x7 production experience supporting a Linux multi-tier infrastructure. This role will manage a team of engineers, responsible for Systems (Linux) and Storage (Netapp) production support and new customer engagements to ensure enterprise-grade Quality of Service? This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast growing M2M and Consumer Wireless services firm that has a global footprint. ? Responsibilities:
- Build a highly agile and operationally precise Systems Administration team to lead Jasper’s fast growth and dynamic systems requirements
- Develop and support Jasper’s computing and storage systems, including setup and support, as well as ensuring comprehensive and accurate monitoring of systems and storage capacity, performance and proper operation. 24 x 7 support is required.
- Provide computing services for production as well as other computing environments, including Dev and QA
- Ensure backup of all data to schedule and restored per requirements
- Initiate and champion development of necessary scripting and other SA related programming tasks
- Ensure configuration management is always current to the operating state of the computing environments
- Primary point of contact and responsibility for service monitoring
- Identify and ensure adequate licenses are deployed for all of Jasper’s uses
- Monitor and ensure proper capacity is in place for all current and future needs in timely fashion
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 8+ Years’ experience in an equivalent production environment including the successful management of systems professionals and monitoring of critical processes and functionality
- Hands-on experience in a Linux environment, including Systems Administration, Scripting (Perl/BASH) and supporting Internet Services such as HTTP (Tomcat), DNS/BIND, SMTP (Sendmail), etc.
- Experience in deployment and use of Puppet and cfengine configuration management tools.
- Experience in deployment and use of alerting/monitoring tools, such as SNMP based (OpenNMS, etc.) and Agent based (Nagios/Icinga)
- Creative problem-solver, capable of self-direction
- Experienced in configuration and troubleshooting VMs
- Experienced with wireless protocols
- Experience troubleshooting and/or tuning kernel/OS to ensure maximum up-time and performance
- HP NonStop (Tandem) / HP HLR application experience
