The Phones Color and Materials Design (CMD) team promotes the Microsoft brand by driving material led design across the Microsoft Phones portfolio. The team sets creative and strategic direction for Color and Material Technology Design from the earliest concepting activities right through to lifecycle management projects.

Th?Director of Phones CMD offers creative leadership and support to the Microsoft Phones Design Team and sets creative and strategic direction for Color and Materials Design, responsible for all CMD phones deliverables. He/she leads a global team of CMD designers and is part of the Phones Design Leadership Team. Th?Director of Phones CMD works across Phones Design and partners with Industrial Design, UX Design as well as other teams that define and influence the Microsoft Brand character. He/she also has significant responsibility into R&D and Sourcing which affect CAPITAL INVESTMENT in both the short term and through longer term exploration and planning. Collaborates with and drives CMD direction into Business Management and external partners to drive CMD and Design messaging through to consumer.

We are looking for a very experienced design leader who has ? specialist knowledge in the area of Color and Material Technology Design and Manufacture.

Your main responsibilities will be to :

?Lead and drive CMD and cross functional Design Projects and approaches that enable high quality and well-crafted products.

?Act as an authority on Color and Material Technology within the CONSUMER ELECTRONICS industry.

?Drive both creative exploration and design for delivery and execution.

?Lead the delivery of Color and Material Technologies across the Microsoft Phones portfolio through INVESTMENT in all stages of the design process from advanced long term exploration through to program technology application and delivery to MARKET. Leads the explorations in a timely way to bring competitive advantage and industry leading opportunities.

?Proactively act to understand portfolio needs and integrates within Business network.

?Understand and grow the role of design within product development process as well as its role on impacting a brand.

In this role you will be responsible for a diverse geographical and global Design function, delivering into a complex business, R&D and sourcing network. You will have responsibility for the continuity of new material technologies and investment impact. You will be responsible for the application of Colour and Materials on devices across the Microsoft Phones portfolio and for defining of a Colour and Materials strategy for Microsoft Phones

Ideal candidate has typically minimum 15 years of relevant experience? We are looking for a Design leader? who has industry leading Industrial Design expertise which is balanced with industry leading Colour & Materials Design expertise. Ideal candidate has experience from both, leading design agencies and corporations, and has proven experience leading and managing direct reports and influencing global design teams.
