TXM Back Office Engineer
Job Purpose
The Back-Office engineer role is to provide level-2 technical support to the various units within the transmission MNS (Metro and SMAN); providing technical support to the Alcatel-Lucent MNS partners Mobily and the external customer. This role will also be acting as the interface between the operation team and the Alcatel-Lucent Technical Support Organization (TSO). Support is provided primarily via escalated trouble ticket from the transmission Front-Office (TNOC), 7/24 phone call support, email and a small focus on chat support when required.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide support for all OMSN legacy products, 1678MCC, 1830PSS, 1850TSS, ISAs, 1353NM, 1354RM and 1354BM-Ethernet
• Responsible for 2nd level support on all escalated incident from the transmission NOC by analyzing
• TT, troubleshooting, researching existing knowledgebase articles/known issues and responsible for initiating and managing escalation between transmission MNS and the Alcatel-Lucent TSO.
• Review cases for technical complexity and make recommendations to team members with regards escalation according to MNS best practices and in accordance to agreed SLA.
• Providing guidance for any technical issue and implementing knowledge transfer while ensuring that the knowledge management database (MNS CARES-Tracker) is constantly updated with newskills and workaround.
• Support when necessary in the critical Software Upgrades for all Network Elements and Patch installation and patch upgrades for NMS.
• Responsible for investigating design defect and preparing recommendation as at when due.
• Checking the NMS performance on weekly basis monitoring the disk usage, network sizing, cleaning the unused files, backup and restore on regular basis.
• Responsible for site handover and expansion check verification and reporting.
Qualifications
Academy and Education background
• Degree in Electrical Engineering /Telecommunication/Computer science /Computer Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in technical customer support position with expertise on Alcatel-Lucent portfolio of optical network products like 1650SMC, 1660SM, 1662SMC, 1830PSS,1850TSS, 1678MCC (OED + GMRE) and the underlying technologies (SDH, ASON,DWDM).
• 5 years or more experience in Alcatel-Lucent optical network environment, preferably in a customer-facing position.
• 5 years or more in the technical training industry including hands on experience building courseware is an advantage.
Knowledge & Skills:
• Expertise in the usage of 1353NM, 1354RM and 1354BM Alcatel-Lucent NMS suites is a must.
• Has experience in the use of trouble ticket tools and Remedy BMC for change control management and overall network fault management is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of UNIX, IP, TCP, and EoSDH preferable.
