Docsis-systmes Engineer

Networkers is currently seeking candidates for the Systems Engineer DOCSIS role:

Requirements:

•Strong understanding of DOCSIS/EuroDOCSIS 1.x/2.0/3.0
•Strong understanding of basic RF parameters and signal flows (frequency, power-level, modulation methods, channel widths, signal losses, SNR etc.) in a CATV system
•Understanding of DHCP/TFTP protocols and DOCSIS provisioning suite
•Understanding of IP switching and routing, including commonly used dynamic routing protocols (i.e. RIP, OSPF, ISIS & BGP)
•Proficient at configuration scripting via industry standard CLI interfaces
•Basic understanding of CPE device configuration files, service flows and CPE troubleshooting
•Understanding of the OSI reference model, specifically Layer 2 (MAC) as it relates to DOCSIS
•Knowledge of IEEE 802 standards for Local Area Networks and Metropolitan Area networks
•Working independently or as part of a larger deployment team. Must be able to diagnose and correct complex IP routing or RF signaling issues in a live CATV network.
•Ability to use industry standard tools to interpret and understand RF variables and recommend corrective actions.
•Tracing IP packet flows through a DOCSIS network, diagnosing points of failure and suggesting corrective actions.
•Will be able to create, modify and deploy configuration scripts for DOCSIS CMTS and related devices (i.e. switches & routers at Layer 2 & 3).
•Prior experience with ARRIS C4 and E6000 CMTS as well as Cisco 10K and Motorola BSR is a required. Direct experience in configuring, deploying, testing and troubleshooting at the DOCSIS 3.0 layer is a plus.
•A valid driver’s license is required, ability and willingness to travel internationally is a plus.
