MTN, Airtel Congo to invest in service quality upgrades

Congo's two mobile operators, MTN and Airtel, have made commitments to invest over XAF 25 billion and around XAF 10 billion, respectively, to improve service quality on their networks, Les Depeches de Brazzaville reports. The announcement was made after an 18 July meeting with the director general of telecom regulator ARPCE, Yves Castanou. At the meeting the regulator approved the operators' action improvement plans three months after it fined the two operators 1 percent of their 2013 revenue because of poor QoS. The upgrade work is due to be completed in December.
